practicing landscape observation painting. even trying this gives me a deeper appreciation of all the strange aspects of detail that come from nature. like how there are different colors and values in a grass field, how much variation there really is in rocks, the patterns of shapes in foliage - their implied structure, how the scale of objects from foreground to background can sell scale in general, an appreciation for geological processes and the beauty of erosion. so much more on top of all that. google earth is a priceless reference for any kind of landscape illustration project. i hope to show video processes in the future. thanks for taking a look.
